The Colombian government has condemned the attack, with the Ministry of Defense and Caracol Radio attributing responsibility to the armed group Renacer ERPAC. The United Nations has also denounced the assault as an attack on press freedom. Chicangana had previously reported receiving threats prior to the attack.
