Austin police arrested social-media personality Brian “Liver King” Johnson on Tuesday evening, June 24, at the Four Seasons Hotel in downtown Austin. Johnson, 47, was charged with one count of making a terroristic threat, a Class B misdemeanor under Texas law, after investigators said he posted a series of threatening videos aimed at podcaster Joe Rogan. Detectives opened the case after Instagram posts showed Johnson traveling from Colorado to Austin while challenging Rogan to a fight and vowing, “I’m coming for you.” Police contacted Rogan, who told them he had never met Johnson and viewed the messages as credible threats. A warrant was then issued, and officers took Johnson into custody without incident around 6 p.m. Court records show Johnson was booked into Travis County Jail and released the next day on a $20,000 surety bond. Conditions of release bar him from contacting Rogan or approaching within several hundred feet and require him to complete an initial mental-health evaluation within a week, followed by monthly check-ins. Johnson, who promotes an “ancestral lifestyle” that includes eating raw organ meats, commands millions of followers across TikTok, Instagram and YouTube and was the subject of a recent Netflix documentary. The arrest adds to the influencer’s controversies, including a 2022 admission that he used performance-enhancing drugs despite previous denials. The Austin Police Department said its investigation is continuing.
