A knife-wielding man was shot and killed by Volusia County sheriff’s deputies and Daytona Beach police officers late Saturday after he allegedly stabbed two people in a Daytona Beach home, authorities said. Responders arrived at about 9:30 p.m. on Derbyshire Road and found a 16-year-old boy and a 39-year-old man with stab wounds outside the residence. Officers entered the house believing additional victims might be inside. According to an initial sheriff’s office report, the suspect burst from a bedroom with a large knife raised and charged the team, prompting multiple deputies and officers to open fire. The man was pronounced dead at the scene; no law-enforcement personnel were injured. Both stabbing victims were taken to a local hospital in stable condition. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the officer-involved shooting, and the deputies and three Daytona Beach officers who discharged their weapons have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome.
