North Miami Shooting Hospitalizes Teen and Officer, Investigation Underway

A shooting at an apartment complex near Northeast 137th Street and Fourth Avenue in North Miami left two people hospitalized on Wednesday, local authorities said. Officers from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office and North Miami Police responded to reports of gunfire shortly before 4:30 p.m. ET. Responding officers found a 17-year-old male with a gunshot wound inside a vehicle at the scene. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue transported the teenager to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital, while a police officer who sustained minor injuries during the incident was also taken to a local hospital for evaluation. Witnesses told investigators that a woman exited the vehicle and fled on foot moments before police arrived. Authorities have not disclosed a motive or announced any arrests. The investigation remains active, and police have asked anyone with information to come forward.
