A Los Angeles Police Department officer was shot at about 3:45 p.m. on Saturday while patrolling near 39th Place and Western Avenue in the Exposition Park neighborhood, according to LAPD spokesman Officer Charles Miller. The officer was transported to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition. Police said a suspect was taken into custody without injury. No officers returned fire, and investigators are still determining what led to the shooting.
