Philadelphia police are investigating two separate shootings early Thursday that left one 19-year-old man dead and another critically wounded within a span of four hours. The fatal attack occurred about 5:30 a.m. on East Rittenhouse Street in East Germantown, roughly half a block from the victim’s home and adjacent to Morton Playground. Officers found the teenager on his electric scooter with a gunshot wound to the face; he was pronounced dead at 5:47 a.m. Investigators recovered six shell casings roughly 100 feet from the body, and two parked vehicles were struck by gunfire. No arrests have been made. Earlier, at around 1:30 a.m., a separate 19-year-old was shot multiple times outside Devereux United Methodist Church on the 3200 block of North 26th Street in Tioga. Police recovered more than 30 spent shell casings in three clusters, indicating possible multiple shooters. Surveillance footage showed a masked individual on foot and a vehicle leaving the area. The victim remains in critical condition. Authorities have not linked the two incidents and are reviewing camera footage and ballistic evidence while appealing for public tips.
