A dinner meeting between Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell and Republican members of the House Financial Services Committee that had been scheduled for Wednesday, 16 July, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time has been called off, according to Semafor. Politico had earlier reported that the gathering would give lawmakers an opportunity to discuss monetary policy with the Fed chief. No reason for the cancellation was provided, and representatives for the Federal Reserve and the committee did not immediately comment.
