NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte told Reuters on 25 June that the entire alliance, including the United States, is “totally committed” to keeping Ukraine in the fight against Russia’s invasion. The comments followed a summit in The Hague and underscored that no member state is reconsidering its military or financial backing for Kyiv. Speaking again on 15 July, Rutte said European governments would “find the money” to fund additional U.S.-made weapons for Ukraine and confirmed that Washington and NATO are coordinating the delivery of more Patriot air-defense systems. He added that talks on supplying longer-range weapons are continuing but no final decision has been reached. Rutte argued that the prolonged conflict is draining Russia’s economy and insisted the alliance intends to ensure Ukraine is as strong as possible when any peace negotiations begin.
