Ligue 1+, the new platform for broadcasting the French football championship, has experienced a strong launch with over 600,000 subscribers in its first weekend, according to Nicolas de Tavernost, director general of LFP Media. The channel offers immersive and behind-the-scenes content of matches, which has contributed to its early success. Despite initial negotiations, a distribution deal with Canal+ fell through in the days following the launch. Tavernost aims to reach one million subscribers in the near future. Additionally, Ligue 1+ plans to introduce a special children's program, "Ligue 1 Kids," co-produced with Gulli, starting next month. The platform is distributed by various services and operators, marking a new approach for Ligue 1 broadcasting. Meanwhile, the Serie A football league has returned to full exclusive coverage in France on DAZN, generating anticipation for the 2025-26 season and the battle for the Scudetto. This marks the first time in Europe that a content creator will broadcast an entire championship exclusively.
