Two spectators were killed and a third was critically injured on Saturday when a competitor’s car left the road during the Rallye de la Fourme d’Ambert in Arlanc, in France’s Puy-de-Dôme department, the local prefecture said. Initial findings indicate the vehicle lost control on a straight section shortly after 10:00, rolled several times and struck the victims, who were positioned in an area that had been cordoned off to the public. The driver and co-driver sustained minor injuries. Organisers cancelled the remainder of the 32nd edition of the rally, which had attracted more than 160 entrants. The gendarmerie has opened an investigation, and emergency teams are providing psychological support to witnesses. Last year’s running of the same event saw a track marshal fatally hit in a separate accident.
