Team Cofidis said 11 of its Look racing bicycles were stolen from a workshop truck in Bondues, near Lille, during the night of Saturday to Sunday after the opening stage of the 2025 Tour de France. The truck’s door had been forced despite security measures and the presence of a guard. Each bike is valued between €10,000 and €13,000, putting the total loss at well over €100,000. The French squad filed a formal complaint, and local police opened an investigation at the team’s hotel while riders used reserve machines to start Stage 2. Five of the bicycles were found on Sunday evening close to the hotel, and police located the remaining six on Monday afternoon in Halluin, about 20 kilometres away, team manager Cédric Vasseur said. With all bikes recovered, Cofidis expects to continue the race with its original equipment as the inquiry into the theft continues.
