Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah laid the foundation stone and performed the Bhoomi Pujan for India’s first national cooperative university, Tribhuvan Sahkari University, in Anand, Gujarat. The ceremony coincided with the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and was attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. The university aims to prepare professional and trained manpower to meet the growing needs of the cooperative sector, promote transparency, and eliminate nepotism within cooperatives. Amit Shah highlighted the importance of this initiative as a ray of hope for the cooperative sector, emphasizing that more than 60 initiatives have been undertaken by the Ministry of Cooperation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in the past four years. The foundation stone laying event was part of a broader celebration marking four years since the establishment of the Ministry of Cooperation, which included a program at the Amul campus in Anand. During the event, Shah also commemorated the birth anniversary of nationalist leader Syama Prasad Mukherjee, noting his contributions before India’s independence. Over ten thousand farmers participated in the celebrations, underscoring the significance of the cooperative movement in India.
