On the 10th anniversary of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), beneficiaries across several Indian states including Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Bihar have expressed gratitude for receiving permanent houses through the scheme. In Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar transferred Rs 1,227.27 crore to over 1.11 crore beneficiaries under the state's Social Security Pension Schemes via Direct Benefit Transfer. The pension amount for elderly, differently-abled, and widows has been increased from Rs 400 to Rs 1,100, a move welcomed by beneficiaries and state officials alike. Additionally, beneficiaries of other schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme have reported positive impacts on their livelihoods, including the ability to open bank accounts and start businesses. These developments highlight ongoing efforts by the Modi government and state leadership to enhance social security and housing infrastructure in India.
