Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on 5 July opened a three-day training programme for newly elected district panchayat presidents and vice-presidents at the Thakur Pyare Lal Institute of Panchayat and Rural Development in Raipur. The workshop is intended to familiarise local leaders with administrative responsibilities in the state where roughly 80 % of the population lives in villages, the chief minister said. A separate three-day training camp for Bharatiya Janata Party MPs and MLAs will begin on 7 July in Mainpat. BJP National President J.P. Nadda is scheduled to inaugurate the session, which will feature expert lectures on legislative and governance practices, according to Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma.
