Reddy, recognized for his judicial career including serving as Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court and as a Supreme Court judge, is described by Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge and other opposition leaders as a distinguished jurist with a strong commitment to constitutional values and social justice. The alliance frames the vice-presidential contest as an ideological battle against the ruling NDA candidate, CP Radhakrishnan. Opposition parties have united behind Reddy, emphasizing his clean image, legal expertise, and non-partisan stance. Several MPs and leaders from parties including Congress, DMK, IUML, Samajwadi Party, and AAP have expressed support, highlighting his role in key judicial decisions and his reputation for upholding the Constitution. Reddy, who hails from Telangana and chaired the independent expert committee for the state's caste census, arrived in Delhi to a reception by opposition MPs. The INDIA alliance views this election as a contest between constitutional values and the ideology represented by the RSS, with hopes of securing a strong mandate for Reddy.
