IndiGo flight with 175 passengers onboard develops technical snag mid-air due to bird hit https://t.co/jNwfFCMrG7
An IndiGo Airbus A320 operating as flight 6E 5009 to Delhi returned to Patna’s Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport shortly after take-off on Wednesday after a bird strike damaged one of its engines, airport officials said. The aircraft, which departed at 08:42 IST with about 175 passengers and crew, declared a local stand-by and landed safely at 09:03 IST. No injuries were reported. Runway inspectors found bird remains, and air-traffic controllers relayed the information to the cockpit after the crew reported engine vibration. The airline said the aircraft is undergoing inspection and that alternate arrangements are being made to fly passengers to their destination. The episode is the second precautionary return involving the carrier in as many days. On 8 July an IndiGo flight from Indore to Raipur with 51 passengers also turned back after a technical alert. India’s aviation regulator has not yet announced any inquiry into the latest incident.
