OpenAI has introduced “ChatGPT Go,” a budget subscription plan available exclusively in India at ₹399 ($4.57) a month, marking the company’s lowest-priced offering to date. The plan was announced by Nick Turley, vice-president and head of ChatGPT, and is already live on the ChatGPT website and mobile app. Subscribers gain access to the latest GPT-5 model along with ten-times higher allowances for messages, image generation and file uploads, plus twice the memory length compared with the free tier. The rollout also brings UPI support across all ChatGPT plans, simplifying payments for Indian users. The move underscores OpenAI’s push to expand in its second-largest market by user base. ChatGPT Go sits below ChatGPT Plus (₹1,999 a month) and ChatGPT Pro (₹19,900) and follows chief executive Sam Altman’s discussions with India’s government about fostering a low-cost AI ecosystem. OpenAI said it will evaluate user feedback in India before considering wider release.
