Indonesian Deputy Manpower Minister Immanuel Ebenezer, also known as Noel, was arrested and named a suspect by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in an extortion case related to the issuance of Occupational Safety and Health (K3) certification at the Ministry of Manpower. The arrest followed a sting operation conducted on August 20, 2025. KPK seized evidence including Rp 170 million, $2,201, and luxury vehicles such as a Nissan GT-R R35, Alphard, and Land Cruiser. Immanuel Ebenezer allegedly demanded Rp 3 billion, purportedly to renovate his private residence in Cimanggis, West Java, and admitted to receiving a Ducati motorcycle as part of the extortion scheme. He was detained along with 10 others for 20 days and was officially dismissed from his position by President Prabowo Subianto, who authorized the legal process. Immanuel Ebenezer's declared wealth amounts to approximately Rp 17.6 billion. The case has prompted reactions from various parties, including Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW), which views the arrest as a challenge to President Prabowo's administration. The Ministry of State Secretariat emphasized the case as a lesson for the entire cabinet. Investigations continue to trace the flow of funds connected to the extortion activities. Immanuel Ebenezer served as Deputy Minister from October 2024 until his arrest in August 2025, earning around Rp 540 million in salary and allowances during his tenure.
