Samsung has outlined a sweeping security overhaul that will ship with One UI 8, its Android 16-based interface due to debut on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 at the company’s 9 July Unpacked event. The centerpiece is Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP), which places sensitive user data in isolated, app-specific encrypted vaults. Samsung says KEEP will also safeguard new on-device AI functions such as Now Brief by preventing other apps from accessing the information they generate. A revamped Knox Matrix will extend protection across the Galaxy ecosystem. If any connected device is flagged for serious risk—such as system manipulation—the software will automatically sign it out of the user’s Samsung Account and push security alerts to the rest of the network. Secure Wi-Fi is being fortified with post-quantum cryptography designed to stop attackers from collecting encrypted traffic today and cracking it with future quantum computers. Beta builds also reveal Android 16’s one-tap Advanced Protection mode, wider live lock-screen notifications and battery-saving tweaks. Samsung says the new security suite will go live first on “upcoming Galaxy smartphones with One UI 8” before expanding to recent phones and tablets in the months following the foldables’ launch.
