The Israel Defense Forces said a drone strike in the village of Kounine in southern Lebanon on Saturday killed Hassan Mohammad Hamoudi, the commander of Hezbollah’s anti-tank missile unit in the Bint Jbeil sector. According to the military, Hamoudi had directed multiple anti-tank missile attacks on Israeli territory during the current conflict. A separate airstrike later in the day in the nearby town of Maharouna killed Abbas al-Hassan Wahbi, identified by the IDF as the intelligence chief of Radwan Force Battalion B. The army said Wahbi was involved in efforts to rebuild the Lebanese militia’s capabilities and move weapons in violation of previous understandings between Israel and Lebanon. The back-to-back strikes underscore the escalating tit-for-tat between Israel and Hezbollah along the border, where hostilities have intensified since the Gaza war spread to the northern front last year. Hezbollah did not immediately comment on the incidents, and Israel indicated it would continue targeting operatives it views as an imminent threat.
