Israeli warplanes carried out a series of strikes on Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley on Tuesday, killing at least 12 people and wounding eight, according to the state-run National News Agency and regional governor Bachir Khodr. The raids hit several locations around Wadi Faara, east of Baalbek, in the deadliest incident since a U.S.-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah took effect in November 2024. Local authorities said the dead include seven Syrian nationals—five of them from the same family—who were living and working in the area. A Lebanese security source told Reuters that five Hezbollah fighters were also among those killed. The Israel Defense Forces said it struck training camps, weapons depots and other compounds belonging to Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force, calling the operation a warning against the group’s efforts to rebuild its military capabilities. Hezbollah has not immediately commented on the attack, which Lebanese officials condemned as a breach of the ceasefire.
