The U.S. State Department has approved a $510 million foreign military sale to Israel, authorizing the transfer of precision guidance systems and related support for aerial munitions. The package includes 3,845 Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) kits for 2,000-pound BLU-109 bunker-buster bombs and 3,280 JDAM kits for 500-pound Mk 82 general-purpose bombs. This approval follows significant munitions usage by Israel during its recent conflict with Iran. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) described the sale as vital to enhancing Israel's self-defense capabilities against current and future threats. The deal was notified to Congress by the Trump administration ahead of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to the White House. This arms sale is part of ongoing U.S. military support to Israel, which reached a record $17.9 billion in 2023.
