The U.S. State Department has approved a potential Foreign Military Sale valued at approximately $100 million for the sustainment of Lebanon’s A-29 Super Tucano light-attack aircraft, the Pentagon said on 11 July. The package covers maintenance, spare parts, training and other support services designed to keep the turboprop fleet operational. The proposed deal names Sierra Nevada Corp. as the prime contractor and still awaits congressional review. Washington has supplied A-29 aircraft to Lebanon since 2018 as part of a broader effort to strengthen the Lebanese Armed Forces' counter-terror and border-security capabilities.
