Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh participated in a stakeholder consultation on improving cotton production held at the ICAR Sugarcane Breeding Institute in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The meeting included farmers from cotton-producing states, top scientists, the Director General of ICAR, and other officials. Chouhan emphasized the government's commitment to addressing challenges in cotton cultivation, including plant diseases and issues affecting weavers and the agro-industry. The consultation involved agriculture ministers from Haryana, Maharashtra, and other states, along with extensive discussions with stakeholders. Following the event, Giriraj Singh engaged in high-level meetings with major Japanese companies in Tokyo, promoting India's manufacturing and industrial capabilities and inaugurating the India Trend Fair 2025 to strengthen industry partnerships in the textile sector. Additionally, Shivraj Singh Chouhan participated in the 97th Foundation Day celebrations of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in Delhi, highlighting ongoing efforts in agricultural development.
