Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan addressed multiple events in Delhi focusing on advancing maize cultivation and agricultural innovation. At the 11th India Maize Summit organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Chouhan called for a multi-stakeholder approach to boost maize production and honored progressive farmers for their contributions. He emphasized that any trade agreements, including those with the United States, will prioritize the interests of Indian farmers. During the 96th Annual General Meeting of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) at Pusa Campus, Chouhan highlighted the importance of using scientific technologies to verify the authenticity of fertilizers and stressed aligning research and technology with farmers’ needs. Concurrently, Science and Technology Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh outlined India’s target to build a $300 billion bioeconomy by 2030, noting the rapid growth of the biotechnology ecosystem from 50 startups to nearly 11,000 in the past decade. He urged the adoption of agri-tech innovations and seamless collaboration in farm research to support sustainable agricultural development and economic growth, aligning with the BioE3 policy launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
