Kenyan Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) George Murkomen has dismissed calls for his prosecution at the International Criminal Court (ICC) over alleged police brutality and killings during the Gen Z-led protests, which reportedly resulted in approximately 100 deaths. Murkomen warned police officers against engaging in criminal acts and incitement against the government. Activist and singer Reuben Kigame has filed petitions seeking private prosecution against Murkomen, Inspector General of Police Hillary Kanja, Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti, National Intelligence Service (NIS) Director Kamal Hassan, and the Attorney General for alleged crimes against humanity linked to the protests. Kigame is also pursuing ICC intervention in the matter. Murkomen has publicly stated that he is unafraid of ICC proceedings and has stood by the police amid the legal actions initiated by Kigame.
