A large unidentified Ethereum whale has been actively accumulating substantial amounts of ETH, purchasing over 312,000 ETH valued at approximately $1.34 billion from major crypto firms over the past week. This whale has created multiple new wallets to distribute its holdings, now totaling more than 221,000 ETH worth around $940 million spread across six wallets. Meanwhile, BlackRock has made notable investments in Ethereum, acquiring over 109,000 ETH worth $500.9 million on August 13, followed by additional purchases totaling approximately $1.5 billion in ETH and Bitcoin combined in the days following. BlackRock's spot Ethereum ETF has been a significant buyer, with transactions including 75,500 ETH ($318.7 million) and 32,936 ETH ($141 million) on Coinbase. Fidelity and Grayscale have also participated, with Fidelity purchasing $56.9 million and $55 million worth of ETH in separate transactions, and Grayscale buying $50 million worth of ETH. Concurrently, an Ethereum Foundation-linked wallet has been selling ETH, offloading over 6,000 ETH valued at around $28 million in the past few days. Additionally, newly created wallets have withdrawn large amounts of ETH from Kraken, totaling over 71,000 ETH ($330 million) in recent days. These movements indicate strong institutional interest and active trading activity in the Ethereum market.
