Mexican authorities have made two notable arrests related to organized crime in recent days. José Luis “N”, also known as “El Chispa” or “El Snoopy”, was detained in Querétaro for his alleged involvement in the November 2024 massacre at the bar Los Cantaritos, where 10 people were killed and 10 others were injured. He faces charges of homicide and attempted homicide. The Querétaro prosecutor’s office identified him as a suspect linked to the Santa Rosa de Lima cartel. Separately, federal security forces arrested José Luis Sánchez Valencia, alias “El Chalamán”, in Colima. Sánchez Valencia is recognized as an operator of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and a relative of its leader, Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as “El Mencho”. Additionally, José Luis “L”, alias “El Jabón”, was sentenced to 293 years in prison for the murder of the son of writer Javier Sicilia and six others in Morelos, as well as for kidnapping, organized crime, and possession of exclusive military weapons.
