Mexican security forces arrested Arturo Gómez Marín, known as "El Vampiro," during an operation in the municipality of Centro, Tabasco, the federal Security and Citizen Protection Secretary Omar García Harfuch said on Wednesday. Authorities identify Gómez Marín as third in command of La Barredora, a criminal organization linked to extortion, protection rackets and multiple homicides in southeastern Mexico. Officers seized a long-barrel firearm and 20 rounds of ammunition at the time of the arrest. The apprehension was carried out by a joint task force comprising the SSPC, the Secretariat of National Defense, the Navy, the Federal Attorney General’s Office, the National Guard and Tabasco’s state security agencies. Gómez Marín was transferred to federal prosecutors, who will determine charges in the coming days.
