The Fiscalía General del Estado de Chiapas has launched an investigation into allegations of sexual harassment and abuse by teachers at the Felipe Carrillo Puerto high school in Pijijiapan, Chiapas. The inquiry was prompted after a student publicly denounced the misconduct during the school's 2024-2025 academic year closing ceremony, stating she had been reporting harassment for three months. Following the accusation, state police detained a teacher identified as José N on charges of harassment and sexual assault. The Secretaría de Educación de Chiapas has suspended the accused teacher and announced the resignation of the school's director. Authorities have requested the Fiscalía to expand the investigation to identify any additional cases that may not have been reported. The Secretaría de Educación Pública (SEP) has condemned the harassment and urged the Chiapas Fiscalía to thoroughly investigate the matter.
