The Fiscalía General del Estado de Chiapas has launched an investigation into allegations of sexual harassment and abuse by teachers at the Felipe Carrillo Puerto high school in Pijijiapan, which reportedly spanned nearly three decades. The investigation intensified after a student publicly denounced harassment during the 2024-2025 school year closing ceremony. Following her speech, José N., a teacher at the school, was detained by state police on charges of sexual harassment and abuse. The Secretaría de Educación Pública (SEP) acknowledged the detention and urged the Fiscalía to investigate whether there are additional victims. The case has drawn attention from public figures, including Citlalli Hernández, who commended the arrest. The student had been reporting the harassment for three months prior to the public denunciation.
