Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and former U.S. President Donald Trump agreed to a 90-day suspension of tariff changes on Mexico to continue dialogue, safeguarding the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (T-MEC). Sheinbaum emphasized that this strategy of calm and firm negotiation has been effective in protecting Mexico's interests amid the evolving global trade environment. Mexican Secretary of Economy Marcelo Ebrard praised Sheinbaum's handling of the call, describing it as splendid and a significant victory, highlighting her firm defense of Mexico’s position and her success in convincing Trump. Additionally, Secretary of Foreign Affairs Juan Ramón de la Fuente underscored Sheinbaum’s leadership and clarity during the negotiation, stating that the dialogue strategy has been highly satisfactory for Mexico and strengthens its stance with the United States.
