Intense rains on August 22 and 23 caused severe flooding and damage in the Mexican states of Querétaro and Morelos. In Querétaro, the storm resulted in the deaths of two women who were swept away by floodwaters. The flooding affected several neighborhoods and streets, leading authorities to declare a hydrometeorological emergency and a state of emergency in three municipalities. In Morelos, heavy rains led to the evacuation of 28 people in Jiutepec with assistance from the USAR Group and the Red Cross. Floodwaters reached up to 1.80 meters in some areas, damaging at least 240 homes across multiple municipalities including Cuernavaca, Jiutepec, and Emiliano Zapata. The flooding also caused the cancellation of a concert by the group Matute in Cuernavaca. Local officials, including Marco Del Prete, Secretary of Sustainable Development of Querétaro, highlighted ongoing efforts to support affected families. Separately, President Claudia Sheinbaum delivered credits through the ApoyArte program to women artisans of the Amuzgo community in Xochistlahuaca, Guerrero, aiming to benefit over 17,000 producers nationwide with a fund of 500 million pesos.
