The Mexican National Guard has launched the "Cero Robos" (Zero Thefts) plan aimed at reducing highway robberies on key routes including the México-Querétaro, México-Puebla, and Mazatlán-Culiacán highways. The operation involves deploying a total of 1,185 personnel—585 on México-Querétaro, 322 on México-Puebla, and 298 on Mazatlán-Culiacán—supported by helicopters, drones, and detection towers. This initiative is part of broader federal efforts, which also include the "Paradero Seguro" operation and intensive infrastructure projects targeting crime reduction on roads. The National Guard commander, Hernán Cortés Hernández, reported a decrease in criminal incidents on these highways since the implementation of the plan. The strategy focuses on increasing surveillance, leveraging technology, and enhancing coordination among authorities, particularly in areas with higher crime rates, to protect transporters and travelers.
