Mexican federal authorities have launched the "Cero Robos" plan to combat rising highway robberies targeting transporters on key routes including México-Querétaro, México-Puebla, and Mazatlán-Culiacán. The operation involves deploying 1,185 personnel, including National Guard forces, supported by helicopters, drones, and detection towers. This initiative is part of broader strategies such as "Paradero Seguro" and intensive infrastructure projects aimed at reducing crime on the nation's roads. Separately, a federal security operation in Aguascalientes led to the dismantling of a clandestine narcotics camp in Pabellón de Hidalgo, resulting in the arrest of 18 alleged members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and the seizure of weapons and vehicles. Following the arrests, the region experienced violent reprisals including narcoblockades, burning of vehicles, and the arson of six convenience stores, including multiple Oxxo locations, as well as armed confrontations with the military. Security patrols and monitoring remain intensified in affected areas to prevent further violence.
