Dozens of Mexico City health workers affiliated with the Fuerza Independiente de Trabajadores de la Salud (FINTRAS) intensified protests on Tuesday against the federal IMSS-Bienestar program, alleging pay delays and operational irregularities since the capital’s public-health system began transitioning into the nationwide scheme. Demonstrators first mounted a hunger strike outside IMSS-Bienestar headquarters, then marched along Paseo de la Reforma and blocked lateral lanes of Anillo Periférico, a key traffic artery. The workers say they are owed multiple fortnightly wages and accuse administrators of failing to regularise contracts. City police moved in to disperse the blockade, encircling the group and reportedly beating and dragging some protesters. No immediate information on injuries or arrests was released. FINTRAS representatives warned they will maintain the strike and further mobilisations until back pay is delivered and employment terms are clarified. IMSS-Bienestar officials had not issued a public response by late afternoon.
