He clarified that the event was not a derailment but a "percance de vía" (track incident) caused by an anomaly in the railway switch system. Specifically, one of the eight bogies of train 304, which was traveling from Cancún to Mérida, came off the track due to a fault in the track change apparatus. The incident resulted in one carriage partially deviating and leaning against the stationary train 307. Lozano emphasized that this anomaly should not have occurred according to the railway system's design and that the issue requires further analysis. All passengers on both trains were reported to be safe. The Fiscalía (prosecutor's office) has initiated an investigation, and insurance will be activated to cover material damages. Despite the incident, operations on the Tren Maya will continue as normal.
