The Gaza Government Media Office has issued a formal statement rejecting a U.S. State Department accusation that Palestinian resistance fighters hurled grenades at American personnel working with the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, wounding two of them at an aid site earlier this month. Gazan officials said the organization, which they described as the “so-called Gaza Humanitarian Foundation,” is not a bona-fide relief agency but rather an intelligence front established with U.S. and Israeli backing. The office demanded an immediate halt to the group’s activities, asserting that Washington’s account was fabricated to justify Israel’s ongoing military campaign in the enclave. In a follow-up communiqué on 16 July, the media office expanded its charges, alleging that GHF staff and accompanying Israeli soldiers lured thousands of hungry civilians to a distribution point south of the Strip, then closed steel gates, used pepper spray and opened fire on the crowd. The U.S. State Department has not yet publicly responded to the latest claims, and independent verification of either side’s assertions remains unavailable.
