The US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) has resumed its food aid operations in Gaza following a brief suspension caused by an attack that injured two US contractors. Since commencing operations on May 26, GHF has distributed approximately 65 million meals to Palestinians in Gaza, including nearly 1.94 million meals delivered on July 7 alone. Despite threats and attacks from Hamas, which has reportedly killed over 700 Palestinians seeking assistance at GHF sites, the organization continues to provide aid directly to the people of Gaza, not Hamas. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has highlighted that it has enough supplies to feed Gaza's population for a month, totaling around 180 million meals, along with critical medicines and hygiene items. The UN World Food Programme (WFP) has called for increased access, including more trucks and safe routes, to facilitate uninterrupted humanitarian efforts. GHF and its supporters have also addressed misinformation and false reporting from some media outlets concerning their operations and the risks they face in delivering aid.
The U.S.-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation distributed 1,940,400 meals in Gaza today. GHF has delivered about 64,967,842 meals since it began operating on May 26.
Almost every day various news orgs publish unvetted lies aimed at the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation. A group risking their lives to feed Palestinians in Gaza w/o Hamas being able to steal the aid. Reuters has issued a correction for today, but most of these lies go unchecked. https://t.co/aDpYbfL9Gc
