Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council and senior advisor to Supreme Leader Imam Khamenei, commenced his first official visit since assuming office with a trip to Iraq. Upon arrival in Baghdad, Larijani met with Iraqi National Security Advisor and Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani. During this visit, the two sides signed a bilateral security memorandum of understanding focused on coordinating security along their shared border. Prior to the signing, Larijani visited the memorial for General Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis in Baghdad. Following Iraq, Larijani is scheduled to travel to Lebanon for further official meetings. The visit underscores ongoing efforts to strengthen Iran-Iraq security cooperation.
