Iran experienced a major internet disruption beginning in early July 2025, with connectivity dropping to as low as 15% nationwide. This outage occurred just weeks after telecom shutdowns during the 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel. The Iranian Minister of Communications, Sattar Hashemi, attributed the internet outages to cyberattacks originating from outside the country. Iranian security and intelligence authorities are actively investigating the situation with heightened sensitivity. The disruption lasted approximately two hours before connectivity was restored to about 94%. Global internet monitoring group NetBlocks confirmed the widespread nature of the outage, which affected access to the global internet across multiple regions in Iran.
