Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian will arrive in Islamabad on 2 August for a two-day state visit at the invitation of Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan’s Foreign Office said Friday. Pezeshkian will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi and other senior officials. During the trip—the Iranian leader’s first official visit to Pakistan since taking office—he is scheduled to hold delegation-level talks with Sharif and meet President Asif Ali Zardari. Officials in Islamabad said the discussions are aimed at deepening political and economic cooperation and reviewing regional security issues. The visit follows Sharif’s own trip to Tehran in May, underscoring efforts by the two neighbours to strengthen bilateral ties.
