Masoud Pezeshkian lightly wounded in 12-day war with Israel - Iranian media - i24NEWS https://t.co/vXvGAtsjvc
Iran’s semi-official Fars news agency reported at the weekend that President Masoud Pezeshkian sustained a minor leg injury during an Israeli airstrike on 16 June, while he was attending a session of the Supreme National Security Council in western Tehran. The disclosure is the first confirmation from Iranian media that the head of state was wounded during last month’s hostilities with Israel. According to the report, six bombs or missiles struck the entrances and exits of the secure building, an apparent attempt to block evacuation routes and disrupt ventilation. The explosions cut power to the lower floors where the council—whose members included Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and Judiciary Chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei—was meeting. Pezeshkian and several other officials escaped through an emergency hatch but suffered light leg wounds in the process. The incident occurred three days into the 12-day war that erupted on 13 June and ended with a cease-fire on 24 June. Fars said authorities are probing whether an intelligence breach enabled the precision strike. Israeli officials have not commented on the allegation.
