Intensified Israeli bombardment across the Gaza Strip left at least 51 Palestinians dead and 369 wounded in the 24-hour period to Friday evening, according to figures released by the Gaza Health Ministry. The strikes hit multiple areas of the enclave, overwhelming hospitals already strained by months of conflict. Medical sources said an Israeli air raid on central Gaza killed eight people, while naval fire off the coast fatally shot a fisherman and injured another. In the south, Nasser Medical Complex reported two deaths when forces targeted Palestinians waiting for aid near Rafah, and Al-Aqsa and Al-Awda hospitals recorded additional casualties after strikes on the Al-Bureij refugee camp. Humanitarian sites were also hit. An infant, Saja Ghassan Al-Naffar, died after an earlier strike on a tent sheltering displaced families near Khan Younis. Separate shelling wounded civilians near Abu Helo school in the Al-Bureij camp, and local reports said Israeli tanks advanced toward an aid distribution point by the Wadi Gaza Bridge. The latest fatalities lift the death toll in Gaza to more than 61,800 since Israel launched its campaign on Oct. 7, 2023, with injuries surpassing 155,000, Gaza authorities said. Relief agencies warn that continued attacks on shelters, aid queues and medical facilities are compounding an already severe humanitarian crisis.
