Netanyahu Allows Palestinians to Leave Gaza Amid Military Offensive; Talks with South Sudan on Resettlement Underway
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israel will permit Palestinians to leave the Gaza Strip amid preparations for a broader military offensive in the territory. This move aims to allow civilians to evacuate combat zones and emigrate abroad. Concurrently, Israel is engaged in discussions with South Sudan about the potential resettlement of Palestinians from Gaza in the East African country, which is experiencing ongoing conflict and political instability. Meanwhile, Israeli gunfire has killed at least 25 Palestinians seeking aid in Gaza. Approximately 100,000 Palestinians have fled to Egypt, although obtaining permits to live there remains challenging. Netanyahu also suggested the possibility of Gaza being governed by a civilian administration independent of both Hamas and the Palestinian Authority.
