An Israeli security guard was killed on Thursday when two assailants carried out a combined shooting and stabbing attack at the Rami Levy supermarket near the Gush Etzion Junction in the occupied West Bank. Israeli soldiers, police officers and armed civilians on site opened fire and fatally shot both attackers, according to the Israel Defense Forces and emergency service Magen David Adom. The victim was identified as 22-year-old Shalev Zevuloni, who was pronounced dead at the scene after sustaining critical gunshot and stab wounds. No additional Israeli casualties were reported. The IDF later named the assailants as Mahmoud Abed and Malik Salem, both 23 and members of the Palestinian Authority police. Security forces said the pair arrived in a stolen vehicle before launching the assault. Troops subsequently encircled the nearby Palestinian town of Halhul and set up roadblocks as part of the manhunt for possible accomplices. The incident was the second stabbing reported in the West Bank on the same day and comes amid a sharp rise in violence in the territory since late 2023. Palestinian and Israeli officials say hundreds have been killed in the West Bank during that period, underscoring persistent tensions despite ongoing security operations.
