The San Francisco Giants opened a six-game homestand with a 3–1 victory over the National League-leading Philadelphia Phillies on Monday night at Oracle Park. San Francisco broke a 1-1 tie in the eighth inning when Casey Schmitt, activated earlier in the day after a 10-game absence, grounded into a fielder’s choice that scored Willy Adames. A throwing error on Bryce Harper moments later allowed Matt Chapman to slide home for an insurance run. Reliever Tyler Rogers worked a scoreless top of the eighth to earn the win, and Camilo Doval closed out the ninth for his 14th save. Landon Roupp held Philadelphia to one run over five innings before turning the game over to a bullpen that yielded just two hits. The Giants improved to 50-42, while the Phillies slipped to 53-38 ahead of the second game of the three-game series on Tuesday.
