“Coyote vs. Acme,” the hybrid live-action and animated feature built around Looney Tunes’ Wile E. Coyote, will open in cinemas worldwide on 28 August 2026. Actor Will Forte confirmed the date during a San Diego Comic-Con panel on 26 July, capping months of uncertainty about the project’s fate. The film had been shelved after Warner Bros. Discovery opted against releasing it last year, but the rights were subsequently acquired by Ketchup Entertainment, clearing the way for a full theatrical rollout. Panel moderator Paul Scheer joked that the decision was “purely an Acme matter,” moments before actor P.J. Byrne, in character as an Acme lawyer, theatrically served a fake cease-and-desist order to stop the session. Footage shown to convention attendees featured Luis Guzmán presiding as a judge with an oversized cartoon gavel and John Cena charming a jury, alongside a runaway Acme rocket skate. Eric Bauza, voicing Bugs Bunny, told the crowd the movie was produced “without the use of A.I. and basketball players,” distancing it from 2021’s “Space Jam: A New Legacy.”
Oh wow. Watched a few scenes of #CoyoteVsAcme and was ROLLING. I hope they show us more. Highlights include Luis Guzmán as a judge with a cartoon gavel, John Cena charming the jury, and an out of control Acme rocket skate. August 28, 2026 can’t come soon enough.
Coyote vs. Acme will release in theaters August 28, 2026. “Let me clear up some misinformation. A lot of people said Warner Bros. wouldn’t release the film, but this was purely an Acme decision. And I’m saying that for legal purposes.” https://t.co/Sdo923PaH6
