Independent genre outfits BoulderLight Pictures and Divide/Conquer have joined forces on a fresh take on Amityville, the haunted-house tale that spawned a long-running horror franchise. The project will be written and directed by Joseph and Vanessa Winter, the married filmmakers behind the 2022 SXSW breakout Deadstream. The producers—Raphael Margules and J.D. Lifshitz for BoulderLight, with Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath for Divide/Conquer—plan to fast-track the film, aiming to start production in the fourth quarter of 2025. While no studio is attached, BoulderLight’s first-look deal gives New Line Cinema priority consideration. Unlike earlier installments, the new film will dispense with the DeFeo murders and the Lutz family haunting narrative, instead drawing on public-domain aspects of the infamous Long Island house to craft a stand-alone story.
