Horror magazine Fangoria has released the nomination slate for its 2025 Chainsaw Awards, which honor film, television and gaming projects released between July 2024 and June 2025. The list was selected by a panel of more than 150 industry figures and was published on 9 July. Ryan Coogler’s southern-gothic vampire tale “Sinners” and Coralie Fargeat’s body-horror satire “The Substance” dominate the field with ten nominations apiece, including best wide release, director, screenplay, cinematography, score and multiple acting categories. Other multiple nominees include Danny Boyle and Alex Garland’s sequel “28 Years Later,” Osgood Perkins’s “Longlegs,” Robert Eggers’s “Nosferatu,” and Tilman Singer’s “Cuckoo.” Categories range from best international feature and first feature to creature effects, score and the fan-driven “best kill” write-in. Public voting is open through 20 July, and winners will be announced during Fangoria’s televised ceremony on the horror-focused streaming service Shudder in October.
